New Icicle Contest

SARANAC LAKE – The Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Committee has introduced a new event called the Icicle Contest. The contest will be held on Saturday, February 1 at Riverside Park. Icicle drop-off begins at 11:30 a.m. and judging takes place at 12:00 p.m. Contestants must take a photo of themselves with the naturally formed icicle before it is removed from their property and transport it to Riverside Park to compete for the longest intact icicle.

The contest is sponsored by The Heat Keepers and the prizes for first place are a $300 credit towards a spray foam project by Heat Keepers, a Heat Keepers sweatshirt, and a free home energy assessment with blower door and boiler testing provided by The Heat Keepers.

The second and third place prizes are a Heat Keepers sweatshirt, and a free home energy assessment with blower door and boiler testing provided by The Heat Keepers. The fourth, fifth and sixth place prizes are a Heat Keepers long sleeve t-shirt.

You can find more information about the contest and the entry application on the carnival's website at www.saranaclakewintercarnival.com/contact/registration-forms. The Icicle Contest is just one of the many unique and traditional events taking place throughout the 10-day winter carnival on January 31-February 9.
