The Suncatcher Contest is Back for Winter Carnival

The Sunset Bistro at Ampersand Bay Resort invites the public to participate in a “Suncatcher” display of artistic talent for the Winter Carnival 2025 event. 

This is a call to action now to plan and make a SUNCATCHER before February 2nd, 2025 to be considered for the “People's Choice Award” and bragging rights for the one with the most votes. 

All ages are encouraged to participate.

Suncatchers are simple to make from things in your own kitchen. Allowing for creativity, anything can be added to individualize your entry. We ask that items used are not something to become trash as they melt. (ie. No paper, plastics, glass, metals etc.). It is an easy process of making a large colorful ice cube in a cake pan. Suncatcher themes can be creating colorful lines in ice with food coloring, a theme such as nature, winter, Winter Carnival etc. A size limit of 12” round or square is necessary due to considering weight for hanging. All entries will receive a number and zip ties will be provided for hanging.
A video link of how to make a Suncatcher will be posted at saranaclakewintercarnival.com. Participants will be asked to register their entries in advance through the winter carnival website and deliver their Sun Catcher to the the Sunset Bistro at Ampersand Bay on February 2, 2024 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We ask that you register at least a week in advance if you plan to participate so we can prepare enough space for hanging all entries. The top three vote winners will be announced at the end of Winter Carnival.
